Don't forget there's also a slot for a key stone in that door.

And that since that door is underwater, there's likely an air lock on the other side of it.

Ventus knows that, but since he doesn't have a key stone with him atm, such a thing is ultimately meaningless to him. The Burn Drive is a much more pressing concern of his right now. As for the air lock, it will still be flooded, effectively trapping whoever is in the base unless they want to skuttle it trying to escape. At the very least, they can't come out from that entrance if Apsis ripping out the Drive flood that point of interest.
