The author says that mystically inclined Pokemon can be located using this geometry - if you use the book to calculate using the variables of the moon phase, the weather, the time of year, how long since the last eclipse, distance from the nearest meteor crater, and so on - you can actually determine where mystically inclined Pokemon are most likely to be at this exact moment! They tend to travel between multiple nests or dens, you see.
