It's probably more like stunning electricity than venom, since the elespiders are known for crippling foes with their electricity laced webs.  Same general effect in the end as paralyzing venom.

Though Joltik can learn Poison Sting for ?.  Hmmm....the line can also learn Cross Poison for ?. Go egg moves, I guess.

EDIT: Yeah, Galvantula's dex entries specifically say it consumes its prey while they're left stunned from the electrically charged webs. Fun.
