The elderberries are in bloom and thus not ripe. As you are gathering wildflowers (the non-holographic kind) for later crafting, a Grimer comes fleeing into the little clearing. A Ranger is hot on its trail.

Seeing Shiva prepare for battle, the Ranger changes tactics, simply corralling Grimer into a handy spot for a battle!
Seeing that it is cornered, Grimer tries to look as small and harmless as possible, melting into a pile of goo with just the eyes sticking up above the grass.
