Quick Flashback to before the stakeout!
Well, he had time to kill before the next day arrived and he needed to start staking out the city. So while the Chief was away from HQ, Agent Dragonstrike had, shall we say, let himself in (with the help of a Klefki) to view their records on the Cookie Thief. Interpol hadn't been able to give him squat on the guy aside from the basic information. Something seemed off here...and he didn't entirely trust Chief Phantom to let him read the records in full considering her involvement with the Cookie Thief...
As he read the records of the most recent event involving the thief, he couldn't believe his eyes. Pirates? A traitor? Something about the HQ getting completely destroyed in a matter of hours? 'How the heck did this not get noticed by Interpol? Must be something to do with the Cookie Thief...if he can wipe their records clean given enough time, he can probably keep information from leaking, too...I need to assume I'm completely compromised, it seems. No hope of contacting Interpol, no backup...just me, my wits, and my pokemon...'
He smiles.
'Just the way I like it. It's not the first time Interpol would have lost contact with me, and I always preferred those solo missions in the field, anyways. Now then, guess I better get out of here...still have no idea what the heck might be in these cookies, though...I'll have to find some time to analyze them, somehow...'
As he leaves the ranger HQ, it's as if he was never there...the ranger at the front desk was snoozing thanks to a Hypnosis from Gardevoir. His Luxray was ensuring nobody was following.
This is why Interpol had sent him.
Because they knew he'd get the job done, even if he had to go completely Off the Grid to manage it.
His seemingly endless resources, his huge number of useful pokemon, his quick wits and access to both Mega Evolution and Z-Moves...and his willingness to do whatever it took to complete the mission, no matter the cost.
He was sometimes called the 'Rogue Agent' by his superiors and coworkers, and with good reason. And what better way to capture a rogue than with another rogue?
