Yeah, I don't know why the writers decided to make such drastic changes to Kirlia's evolution method.  Gardevoir can be male after all, and there's nothing wrong with keeping the Dawn Stone (book lists a shiny stone for both of kirlia's evos, not a dawn stone) since Froslass still uses it.

And on the point of Froslass, I don't get why they made those changes to Kirlia but didn't do the same for Snorunt, which follows pretty much the same evolution pattern as Kirlia...

Anyways, I'd prefer sticking with Kirlia's original evolution method into Gallade.  No reason to fix it if it's not broken.

My Togekiss evolves via Shiny Stone, so I would love if Gallade's evo involved the Dawn Stone instead, so that we would not be fighting over a Shiny Stone if we happen to find one! We make plenty of drama during the regular campaign, so fighting over items is something no one wants to start now!

Yeah, there's that to consider as well.
