Move tutor currency seems too rare

I'm all for conveyance and instilling value in choices, but I feel that they maybe took it a bit too far this time. The Dentist charged 5000 poke per move learned, so I say that was fairly balanced, if you need a more onto a pokemon pronto. If he really is not going to become a tutor again, he should at least offer to do something else, like increasing friendship of a pokemon once a day (5000 dollars, cleaning their teeth, natch), or give some item that relates to his profession.

As for the old man, having one early game tutor that does not cost anything (or much), that has move that can benefit the start of a playthrough, seems like a sound idea. As for the other tutors, I feel that having their moves pooled together in a one (or 4) tutors around mid-to-late game seems to be a swell idea.... if they didn't ask for something so bloody tedious to get. I would not mind if they resorted to charging berries or Poke for learning moves, as the latter give people more of an incentive to grow berries (something I almost never did in my first run), and the former is much easier to get by rechallenging trainer. Both methods cost something (time and money, mostly), so I think it emphasizes the inherent value of tutors

Oh, and while I would miss free relearning, making the Move Relearner ask for Heart Scales for both styles of playthroughs would give those scale move value. If I heard correctly, they are relatively easy to get too, so I would not be too frustrating to farm them.

If they insist on using shards as payment for moves, have some NPC located somewhere in the world (The rock gym town seems like a good idea) that will exchange money or shards is essential, even if they lower the cost of tutoring. Their has to be an alternative, after all, if one does not want to go farming for them. If they have the money, why not let them cut the middle man out of the proceedings, so to speak?
All sound points.  In fact, there were tutors in Amatree that required the Baykal berries for the moves they taught in the beta, so JV and Twitch might have been thinking along the same lines in that area.

Concerning the Nowtoch Tutor, most of the moves he taught were very, very niche status moves of some kind.  Having them taught for free only after getting 4 badges was fitting I think.  Nobody would seriously consider teaching them otherwise, particularly since Nowtoch is very easily accessible right after the 4th gym thanks to the Tandor Underground.

And as for the dentist, putting him back in but making him a friendship raiser or similar sounds like a decent idea.  It'd provide a nice alternative NPC to the Beachside Hotel's groomer if you want to use his services on something besides friendship for whatever reason.
