After that is dealt with, though, he would be willing to listen to her about the whole issue, and apologize himself for being so harsh, leaving her when she needed him most, and for causing her to become clinically depressed. He's going feel like shit when it dawns on him that he snub Shiva for no real good reason...
As for different reaction, he would have praised her abilities to high heaven and attempt to initiate even more cuddles to assure her that while she not as fierce of a battler as Nathan is, she's far crafter and more devious than he's ever capable of being. He'd also explain that evryone has their own battle styles, and that and everyone's is perfectly suited for their needs! He cares for her greatly, and normally would never even DARE to disappoint her!
Of course, simple miscommunications and overspeaking happened, and the party is more splintered than ever solely due to Ventus. Fuck me....
Everyone here is at fault in some way, Windos. Ventus was just the catalyst for the most part.
Nathan has a hard time letting go of the past, and the secret involving Kirlia directly made it even harder to let go of it.
Shiva outright lied to Nathan about it not once, but twice, and went out of her way to tell Ventus more info than Nathan (though Kirlia hadn't evolved at that point, so it didn't seem like it would be a problem then). Granted, none of that was completely unwarranted, but I've said that Nathan only needed to know the parts relating to Kirlia's evolution since this whole mess kicked off.
Ventus is also a little at fault for keeping the secret so closely guarded, but again, it wasn't completely unwarranted.
Again, the whole problem with the situation was that it involved Nathan directly in a VERY important way, and nobody would tell him why. His stubbornness on the matter whenever he found a chance to bring it back up didn't help. The whole thing became a mess of trust issues that needed to be fixed, all because of a chain of negative events.
The good news is that it can still be fixed. And we can take measures to keep something like this from happening again, and hopefully preserve a lot of the life in the game by being able to flesh out our characters and the world a little more on the side.
I don't regret my decisions for how Nathan reacted to all this, but I definitely do not want it to happen again.
And don't feel too bad for missing Shiva's general statement not being directed just at Nathan. To most onlookers, I think it would be interpreted as such as well given she mentioned Nathan just before making the general statement, and even if you're empathic, it's likely easy to get lost in the heat of the moment and make mistakes anyways. Ventus reacted in a perfectly reasonable way, I feel.

He's already pissed off at Ventus for stonewalling him, but how will this thorny problem play out?
Nathan's probably going to be incredibly worried. Kirlia probably will be too (since Shiva means a lot to Nathan because of the recent events), and Shiva's probably not going to really be able to hide something like that from him for long.
When he hears why, he'll probably...I'm not sure. It's a perfectly reasonable reaction, but he's probably going to have just as many words for Shiva as he will for Ventus. Now, how he says them...that's still to be determined.
