Most of the tension is being weeded out little by little, thankfully. I think the only real issue left (aside from the slandering Nathan thing) is the whole 'killing pokemon' thing. Which Ventus is working on (slowly, but it's being worked on. I think.).
While the battle discussion is interesting, I feel there's not too much of a point discussing it currently. Maybe a little later down the line, it'll be more relevant. Though I will say I feel like I have some sort of answer to a lot of the stuff that could be thrown at me (though they vary greatly in effectiveness, of course). Also want to drop a reminder though that Fairy and Fighting also resist Bug, so Leech Life wouldn't be SE either. And AOEs can still be evaded, at least mechanically (still doesn't really explain how some of them might be evaded, but...go game logic for somehow making it possible for an EQ to miss...). Well, unless the GM says otherwise. Bubble, Swift, and Electroweb? Yeah, I don't think there's too many problems with dodging those.
As far as other options for teaching those particular moves...well, Dream Eater is also a TM starting in gen 4, but none of the other moves are typical TMs/tutor moves, so tutoring them would be sketchy at the very least. I think it could make sense for a pokemon that already knows the move helping another trying to learn it naturally might accelerate the process, though (could do that with everything except Imprison, Future Sight, and Heal Pulse)...but that's just some rambling from me, I guess.
