Then again, they are a Pokémon Center, and don't have to worry about silly things like 'Cost and Upkeep' , when the League foots the tab like its no big deal! Of course, all of this is the farthest thing from your mind when you take a seat in one of the extremely comfortable chairs - egad, it was like the apolstry was trying to devouring you!- and wait for the holographic projector kicks to life.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) , it comes on only a scant few minutes after you arrived, showing your Boss sitting up ram rod straight in his desk, with a look of bemusement on his face. "Reiner Arendse. I have been informed that you have succeeded in capturing Mew, so congradulations are in order! I would have though you would have completed the 'easier' objective I gave you first, but no, that was far to....beneath your caliber. So on the first day you go and capture Mew, all without nary a hitch or cause of panic. You are well on your way to becoming my right hand man, if you continue this tread of high quality, efficient, and swift performance. However, there is something that....concerns me."
Giovanni face become stone cold fast . Uh oh, looks like he's getting serious, judging how those eyes of his are boring into your pretty blue one. "One of my....officers that I assigned to watch over your Test reported something that caused me pause for concern. Namely, your capture of Mew was proceeded, facilitated the formation of, and solidified a nearly unbreakable bond between the two of you. Am I incorrect, Reiner." It doesn't sound like a question to you; its more like him wanting to hear your account of things, before he passed judgement. Hope you got a story to tell, because he doesn't look to happy right now...
Reiner has to rub his temples for a moment in thought...of course...Mew's psychic ward must have dropped when she fainted...that would be how they knew...welp, time to be bluntly honest...
"No, you're not wrong. There's something...strange about it. Like I was naturally attracted to the legendary or something. I don't think I would have found her so quickly otherwise. And then there was what only amplified the effects...namely, the psychic connection Mew established with me to communicate. And then subsequently with my pokemon so I could use 4 of them at the same time to do battle with her.
"As you're familiar with already, I don't like mistreating my pokemon, nor treating them only as tools. And knowing Mew has likely been the subject of many hunts for it for varying reasons, I decided I would try a friendly approach and try to convince it to join. Well, that sort of worked. She appreciated the kindness and the chatter both, but she didn't appreciate the main reason I was seeking her out. Since I was so nice though and had piqued her interest, she decided to give me a chance, and determine her fate through a fair battle. If she won, she'd go free. If I won, she'd come with me. The battle was fierce since even holding back, Mew knew what she was doing, and I had only a slight upper hand since Mew had made it possible for me to attack her with 4 pokemon at the same time, allowing for strategies most trainers would only dream of being able to achieve.
"But then something changed. When I ordered Felicia, the shiny Persian I'm sure you've heard so much about already, to use Hypnosis on Mew, something went wrong. Being forcefully put to sleep awakened a primal power in Mew. One she hadn't used in thousands and thousands of years...one she couldn't fully control, and had been attempting to keep buried with good reason. At that point, the already established psychic connection between me and Mew was...ripe with energy. That's probably the best I'd be able to describe it as. The things I saw...they were beyond mortal comprehension...they were Mew's memories, and there is no way I would be able to describe any of them. The glimpses were fleeting, and the concepts complex...that's besides the point, though. The point is, it was overwhelming. It was either KO Mew right then, or pay the consequences of Mew going berserk from the sudden rush of power. Weavile did an excellent job cleaning up that battle along with the other pokemon. Upon being KOed, the primal energy faded, as did all of the psychic connections Mew had established. Except in their place, there was a strong, irresistible feeling that Mew was now my pokemon, in addition to all the emotions I had experienced in the midst of Mew's memories.
"But that brings us to another problem...Mew has informed me that she is not as powerful now, and won't be at her full strength for a long time because of how sudden the gain and loss of that full strength was. She only has access to the moves she'd been intending to use against me in that battle, and her Synchronize ability is only half as powerful as it was when she demonstrated its full effects to me. In her current state, I don't think she'd be strong enough for what the team would be aiming to use her for. While the goal of acquiring Mew was successful, I'm sorry to report that it likely ended in a partial failure.
"However, there's a silver lining, however thin it is. I've felt rather...strange since that encounter. Not just emotionally. I'm now able to perfectly read the emotions of those around me to a degree. I didn't think much of it at first, but found it stranger when it wasn't just my own pokemon I could sense the emotions of, even if the effects weren't as strong. I asked Mew about it, and she thinks it has something to do with the explosion of energy that had leaked into the psychic connection between us. It was enough energy to melt a normal human's mind completely, according to her. And yet here I am. Able to directly converse with Mew with her telepathy, rather than just 'speak' with her when she echoes what she wants to say in my own thoughts. There might be other beneficial side effects as well. Mew believes I might be able to command many pokemon at the same time without too much trouble without needing her aid, for instance. It could very well ease the completion of further missions. On top of that, I now have the willing aid of Mew herself. Even if she's not as strong as she could be, she is still at least more powerful than the average pokemon, and should prove rather useful for my missions. I do not know if she would be willing to listen to any trainer in our ranks other than me, either."
That...was a lot to say...and a lot to digest...even though he'd experienced it himself, he still couldn't fully believe it. It seemed like something from a dream, after all...
