There one thing that you missed, partner: Life Orb + Reckless = + 4D6 Damage Dice on all attacks. In addition,  Reckless , while I don't think making it essentially No Guard but Extra Damage, I say adding ( + 1 STR and + 1 Accu, but - 2 Defense) is more to my liking. You hit like a truck full of dynamite, but you sure fell it when someone hits you!

Solid Rock will have some interesting intereaction with the Body Armor, though. What, pray tell, is up for you to find out, if you so choose.

Except in the games, Reckless only affects moves that naturally have Recoil (Life Orb doesn't do anything to trigger the ability), which is why that didn't come to mind for me.  And Horn Drill isn't one of those moves affected by Life Orb's boost either.

Solid Rock + the body armor...hmmm...sounds burly.  Really burly...

In the book, Reckless applies the damage bonus to any move that has recoil, and the way the authors handled the Life Orb was to just to make it give all attacks Recoil on top of 2 damage dice.  If you want, I will happily allow it! Of course, each attack will most likely have more than a decent chance of putting Rhydon in the red quickly, so...

The Solid Rock Upgrade, meanwhile, has no real downsides to speak of, in comparison to what its upsides provide. You choice as always, mate: Risky Offense, or Tank Defense.

Oh, and before you make any decision, let's not forget the $15000 Dollar Varient to the Protector. I'll say that its quite good, mate! Expensive, but you get what you paid for!
