Another mechanical note on how moves work in the games: HP draining moves like Drain Punch and Leech Seed can only restore HP relative to how much damage they actually dealt if they KO the target, not would have dealt if they hadn't KOed the target. So in this case, Drain Punch would have only restored 1HP instead of 3 since Melchior only took 3 damage as opposed to 6 (and 3 halved and rounded down is 1).
Not a huge deal if Mamudo Eclipse deals 5+ damage, but if it deals 3-4, yeah, rather important. And if for some reason there's Recoil for using the gun, that follows the same damage limit in the games as well (though I imagine Lethal damage could mess up the limits a little since it's basically a second HP bar in some ways).
