Nathan and Kirlia almost buy it.  There's just one part that Kirlia notices is an obvious lie:

Getting lost.

Nathan gives Ventus a very skeptical look.  "Ventus, you're on the main road right now.  And a field researcher with who knows how much experience.  How the heck could you have gotten lost?  And why the heck were you attacked by a horde of wild pokemon?"

Ventus honestly looked surprised by this declaration, before they slowly removed thier hand from his face and got a better look at their surroundings, realizing that what Nathan said was true. "....Huh, so you are correct, Nate. Baah....fending off the horde must have more exahuasting than I first thought, if I missed something this obvious. As for why I was mass attacked, I was hunting with Apsis, and we so happen to come across that Hypno, so I decided it would make for a good sporting meal for my snake. Unfortunately they had 'buddies' to call upon to defend themselves, as I have said, and they all surrounded and attempted to pulp the both of us. It was...rough, but Apsis and I managed to struggle our way through, though she had to forgo devouring that Psychic, least he have even more allies inbound. Hopefully that helps clarify details a bit for you..."
