Ventus, try as hard and doggedly as he liked to reach Nathan and fulfil his self appointed goal to assist the boy in subduing the Dark type by whatever means necessary, was unable to. The young trainer and Absol were just too far ahead for him to catch up at this point, even if he had Raphael utilize Extreme Speed and After You in order to rapidly accelerate towards their position, and by the time he DID catch up, it would be too late to do anything of value. Besides, now that he stopped for moment to catch his breath and go over his option on what to do NOW, he realized he missed one crucial, detail that he missed in his percession sight on his goal: that the Absol did not have hostile feelings towards Nate. Quite the opposite as a matter of fact, given that beast was not trying to outrun, but to lead him somewhere that the Disaster Pokémon felt was important the boy would see. At least, that was he was able to piece together in hindsight, with the meger evidence he had.
As this revelation settled upon his mind, the researcher couldn't help but look completely dumbfounded by all his expectations and carefully organized plan be rendered utterly meaningless, and even counterproductively destructive in hinsight. Ven just stood there, long enough for both Raphael and Michael (Who had ceased their own Pursuit by this point) to start to grow worried about his abrupt and dour lapse in attention, before he let out a long, long suffering sigh as he cradled his head in his hands and shook it in dismay at how Kyurem damn moronic he had and was acting.
"By Reshirim and Zekrom, how could I have erred so, SO much...? Was I too zealous in my desire to protect him from harm? Did my own fears and concerns caused me to overlook his own, and completely smother his own directive and free will? My own stubborn tendacies and worrywart nature driving me onwards to so thoroughly set me against Nate's own desires and freespirited nature? ....*Sigh* Perhaps it just because I wanted to be his savior for once, rather than just the find he barely find it within himself to tolerate from time to time. Maybe its all of that and more, but the fact is that I have done wrong by him. I'm not sure I can possibly make this up to him, after so thoroughly salting the fertile fields of our friendship with my recent actions, but I must at least try. For doing nothing and slinking away from your mishaps is infinitely worse than facing, and humbly attempting to offer reperations for your follies..." he said, more to himself than his family members hovering by and over him, before he slowly raised his head to them both and carefully regarded them both. The empath had a tired, sorrowfully, yet never the less determined look in his eyes, as he explained the new course of action to his Pokémon.
"As you may have well heard, I commited a grevious trespass against our friend Nate, and now must try to make amends for this. The best way I see that I can do that currently is rejoining the Running and trying to corral the Rampaging beast there, protecting the civilian watching from the sidelines and reducing the potential hazards for other participates. That, and catching a few more rare Pokémon and gifting them to both Shiva and Nathan might incline them to be more forgiving for my actions, unlikely as that may be. Let's get back into the thick of things, and see if we can salvage the unsalvageable, and undo what can not be undone..."
Order: Ventus has a nice Heel Realization over his recent actions, and then makes haste to rejoin the Running to protect those that actually need his help, and try to catch some more Pokémon for his friends. He's a screw up in this case, but maybe he can unscrew himself out of this situation....eventually.

Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
