He going to get along fine with the boy fine now regardless of how they treat him, but he's also not going to let them hinder him any longer if he feels they are being too 'Nathan', and will subsequently ignore them or act contrary to their will depending on the situation. So less of being the connection between them, and more being the mediator. You know, just like always!

That sounds indeed rather liberating. I hope that Nathan can adapt to the situation, since as soon as Shiva realizes she cannot bring them close to one another again, she'll be frustrated at first (not to a point wher she is threathened to fall into another epidode though), then accepting to that and moves on. Not hoing to get ruined and hindered in het own things just because of her travel companions.
