Valder's roommate is a very old gentleman named Mortar. He's still training Pokemon despite his age - he likes Pokemon with the Sniper ability. At first he is a bit discomfited by how rough and tough Valder looks. Then he starts chuckling and trying to engage Valder in conversation. He tells some stories about the crazy things he did in his youth, like having his Ariados tie two Raticate tails together in double battle.
