Most likely when you have A) Resolved things Successfully with Ventus so that he no longer is apathetic/spiteful towards your character ,B) while Shiva and the researcher are surrounded by their strongest Pokémon as both a form of protection and message to the devil dog, plainly telling it that they will broke no mischief, trechory, or antics towards them or others, and C) At a moment in time when revealing the beast doesn't compound existing worries/fears. As for a compromise, though, I would be extremely happy to hear of a way to actually introduce Orthros to the party without a meltdown happening! I don't have one myself, though, since I just don't know where to begin on that...

Quite frankly, my current plan is try to get things to the point where Nathan can at least show Shiva the dog means zero harm to her (Starmie and Calam being the safety nets in all likelihood, even though Nathan has no reason to distrust Orthros at this point.  I'm also hoping that Nathan's very, very honest appreciation has helped get a little closer to that...), and then trying to integrate him into everyday stuff so everyone can get used to him being around.  Nathan as a 'pack leader' is certainly very different from a Mega-Houndoom that's feasting on negative energy.

Maybe a demonstration of his obedience in the Little Cup would help as well?

I'm fine with that plan, in all honestly, as its gradual approach and care towards Shiva's VERY sensitive feelings are really only way that demon dog has a chance of being anything other than a fear response. Of course, Orthros will never really get along with Ventus due to my character's acts of brutality against his old pack mates, which will likewise mean at best my character only just barely kindly tolerates them unless they suddenly decide to take a liking to him.

That would most likely be a great big help, though Ventus might not be around at the time if he has other matters to look into, or information he needs to gather to sate his own curiosity/suspicious on Almanac and other topics...
