Dragonstrike, if you adopt Pinsir, you are quite deliberately setting up a situation that just invites character conflict with either my own or Shiva, since she what it was capable of and didn't seem as fond of it as Nathan strangely is. I don't want to endure that constant, looming threat to Ven's sensibilities AND try to moderate/limit the explosive fallout that comes if even the barest mention of it gets out, so if that means my character leaves the campaign altogether and I have to make a new one, so be it! If that mean I can't come back to the game at all....well, I'll certainly have the time to update my own Game Thread on a weekly basis from then on.
I haven't said the decision was final yet, Windos. I never said Shiva and Ventus ever have to know about it if Nathan does. I never said Nathan was fond of it, but he doesn't hate Pinsir either.
We don't even know if Pinsir is still there currently. His original trainer could have gotten him back by now, for all we know. Nathan's the only one who's actually 'cared' enough about Pinsir to try and keep tabs on him.
If he's there, Nathan's likely going to take the opportunity to remove him from the system. An act of kindness in one way, and keeping him out of the hands of his original trainer in another. Nathan would never, ever breathe a word about it to Ventus and Shiva if he did that. Ever. And if they somehow figured it out, then he'd assure them that they won't ever have to deal with it. Nathan would have taken care of it in his own way, and that would be that. He could deal with the repercussions of semi-permanently boxing the bug later, when he doesn't have to worry about Ventus and Shiva overreacting to his decision.
If Nathan learns Pinsir isn't there any more, so be it. This is all moot and we'll have to deal with Mega-Pinsir again later in all likelihood.
Nathan's looking for answers, and he's potentially got an opportunity to do something rather crippling for that trainer and semi-reasonable to his morals. What was that Ventus said about weakening the foot soldiers, again? Unlike with the Tangrowth, that can be very, very effective here.
I know, but I want to put my POV and feelings on the matter, and give reasoning why I don't want that to happen.
Ven didn't care because he hated the thing and personally wanted to let it drown in the lake in hindsight, and Shiva had her own problems to worry about at the time if I recall. I hope and pray that Pinsir is gone by now, as that is just one less thing that could cause a problem in between everyone....
....If Pinsir ends up semi-permenantly boxed and/or traded away to someone that their original owner can't track down and beat them up/kill them for his friend, then that is something I can abide by. If Ven finds out, though, then he's liable to explode at that point, if we assume that our characters manage to patch things up after recent events.
If approached with that as the main/only reason for adopting Pinsir (If word got out), then Ven would be a whole lot me agreeable about this(If still disgruntled), as that means they are actually listening to their words and taking some of them to heart, and that it isn't his 'merciful and overly kind to threatening Pokémon' tendency rearing its head again.
Still.......my character leaving the group is not a bad idea, if done so carefully. I already have another one in mind that would gel quite well with Nathan's Fettered, Lawful Good nature and Strong Headedness, and would be a great boon to the campaign if I can hash out the details with Iron. It would also end the near perpetual cycle of conflict that our characters are in, and give me a clean slate to work with and make someone that ISN'T a crockpot full of deepseated issues and is more undecisively likable overall. What do you think?
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
