The world leaks like a sieve when it comes to conspiracies. It's not outside the bounds of possibility that someone with connections (like Shiva's father) would have heard about that.

True, as that is how Nathan learned most of what he knows.  But considering Shiva didn't know about the more recent disaster in Tandor from 1.5 years ago, I certainly wasn't expecting her to know about something 5-10 years old.  

Well, regardless, Nathan's got his notes if Shiva cares to learn more for whatever reason.
