Namely that you mentioned the fact that Ven bloody murdered the Delta Houndours in question, and left out the bits where Ventus explicitly said that he knew people or techniques that could handle and contain Orthros for research. The former is certainly going to lead to uncomfortable questions/thoughts by Shiva and tarnish the image of such a sweet man in her eyes once more, and the latter is just going to irritate him when he find out you left out those details in the story to rationalize making giving the dog away an non-option. Either one alone could cause kurfufles in the group, and that is discounting the most likely negative reaction Shiva going to have at the partial reveal of a Dream Demon Abomination Delta Species That Preyed on Her and Her Pokémon's Sleep , or DDADSTPHHPS to abbreviate.
The Houndour murder is mentioned because Nathan is very, very honest for the most part. He's also not a big fan of Ventus's actions concerning the Houndour since from what he's seen, they never caused any physical harm if unprovoked. And he's particularly annoyed with Ventus right now because of the fact that he openly called Orthros a monster in that text he responded with. Besides, Shiva knows a little about Ventus having a bit of a mean streak already (cuz Rattata). He's not purposely trying to bash Ventus, though, just telling it as it is. If Nathan had reason and wanted to spare Ventus the trouble, he would have.
And as for containing the dog, Nathan's rationalizing not saying anything about that because of one thing Ventus probably didn't consider: you don't get to use those techniques if the subject vanishes immediately. Considering Delta Houndour is able to enter the Dream World at will, even going so far as to phasing in and out of existence while still in its pokeball (and being a psychic type that's very much able to sense its surroundings very easily), the chance of actually containing it if it doesn't want to be there is very, very, very low (can't capture what you can't touch, after all). Plus, Nathan isn't a big fan of just having pokemon stuck in a lab for study like that, being treated more like science experiments than actual living creatures.
Ven at the time didn't know or even care to know that the Houndour were relatively harmless, as all he was concerned about was all those beast pouncing on him despite his clear warning otherwise and the wretched state his mini group was in. That, and unlike Nathan, he suddenly and without explaniation appeared in a plane of existence that was an almost literal combination of hell and nightmare and was acousted with his invalde best friend by what looked to be a friggin Demon. Given his phobias, parinioa, and utterly ruthless demeanor when it comes to threats (real or imagined), would you expect him to not react violently and with utmost brutality? My character would normally appreciate such honesty, but it just gives him more reason to resent you if Bad Things ® happen. Fair is fair, though, so long as it doesn't escalate into another feud between the two of them...
My character would counter argue this by claiming that Nathan + Him could have easily mass attack and knocked it out, before balling it, placing it in the PC where it would be digitized and placed in stasis, get in contact with Mallorn/his research friends and have them make the preparations BEFORE directly arranging Orthros to be transported to secure holding directly (Likely with a PC set up in the specialized containment cell, with Pokémon on standy to disable/knock it out if need be). They could have done it in a private room quickly and efficiently, Nathan would get recognition and a nice reward for his discoveries, and neither Ventus nor Shiva would have to suffer the presence of a species that could have easily killed them if fate decided to play out differently. Or Nathan could have directly put the dog in his PC, kept it in the dark until preps were made, and then give them away without letting on, if he wished for the non-violent approach. At least, that is how my character will present his story. He'll also be rather upfront about not giving a damn as to what ultimately happens to the dog, so long as its out of his/her hair and no longer presents a problem to anyone else. More ammo for my character to gun down Orthros/Nathan's image, at any rate.
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
