Coming out on Mac?

First off, everything that happened had nothing to do with Nintendo.

Second, I don't know if there were ever plans to release it on Mac.

Your shorta right and wrong on that. While Nintendo didn't peruse any litigious action against the creators of the game, per say, their presence and interference did cause them to pull their download links to the game. I don't know whether or not Nintendo had any private conversations with the creators during the radio silence, but if they did, I doubt only but a select few knows for sure. Maybe they ultimately pulled out from the game because of things we don't know about?

Pondering aside, I don't think it possible for there ever to be a Mac Release. I heard it has something to do with the game being developed in RPGXVG Maker, so unless someone is will to rework the code of the game to be cross-system compatible, I don't a port is likely to happen anytime soon...
