If Swiftfire knew Inferno already, Nathan might have just had her use it on the tree and been done with the matter.  This hardly looked natural...but she doesn't yet, so it looks like he's not going to be taking THAT approach...

Ventus would want to go Roman on that tree's xylem, having all the Fire types on hand burn it to cinders, then poison the very earth it lay, THEN mix the Poison with plenty of water to thoroughly soak the ground in toxins, before spraying it again with Poison, THEN THEN mixing that slurry with camping fuel and lighting a spark to the mess. No trace of that thing must survive, in my esteemed opinion!
