If you want to breed Orthros, save that for post game when our characters are no longer in our control, and therefore can do whatever they want without our input. At least, that is my recommendation...

And I think that it's not difficult to see the post adventure stuff is when that would happen, if it happens at all.  Nathan doesn't have time to try and do any sort of breeding project right now, be it with one of his three rare genderless pokemon or the entirely new to the world Delta Houndour.
