I think Kirlia was pantomiming something other than your guess, but I'll let Dragonstrike take care of that. 

Kirlia shrugs at Ventus's guess.  It's kinda close, but...not quite exactly what he was trying to communicate.  He does nod at Ventus's request, but he'd rather things not get to this point again if possible...

I agree with this action, as Kirlia knows it's best for Nathan if Nathan gets help whenever he enters a breakdown. 
Trying to fix the situation by changing Kirlia, however, is unlikely to work.
