The natives would certainly tell you that older is better! And it is a higher quality instrument.
However, the reverend implied that it's more about heart than ritual.

Then I'm keeping the older/better Instrument for my character's own use then! I already have ideas on how to use it creatively, so hopefully they'll go as planned!

Btw, what would be the Roll to play an Instrument for an Encounter while singing along to a song? I would think it be either Insight + Knowledge + Allure/Perform, but clarification is always a nice thing to have!
