It seems to take a little longer for a trade to be conducted, but it worked eventually. Is that normal?!
For my first sent out Pokemon (a female Orchynx) I got an egg from someone who called themselves 'Nerd' in-game. ...Priceless!

It contains a pure Water Type.

Again, probably server traffic, so I'm not surprised things are slower than usual.
