Inferno is harder to use than Hypnosis is, though. If I'm going to use it, it's going to be for a GOOD reason, not just because I can. (And Swiftfire doesn't know any other fire moves with more than 2 power so far, so don't worry about her overpowering things too much unless I give the order to use the also Lethal Megahorn, which is currently her strongest attack)
Stage of evolution also isn't everything. Yeah, fully evolved pokemon have more HP and often learn a few moves for 0 exp, but Nathan's operated on using a lot of unevolved pokemon for most of the adventure so far and done just fine.
