Some kind of "Post-Uranium RP" - Now finished and open for questions!
#52
(Aww... you made her hide her slight blush due to your words behind a book. Inapproachable...)

As mentioned earlier, Lucille soon felt better and got back some of her calm attitude. She still was somehow instable (current comparison isotope: Tritium), but she definitely made efforts. Just in case, she got herself a prescription for emergency medication, wouldn’t be that well if she’d suffer more emotional or nervous breakdowns… never thought it would be necessary though, but it’s for good’s sake, so…

*inserting a normal afternoon at their home, or rather that’s what considered normal at the moment*:

“After all,” she thought as she took a break from work and simply watched her faithful Nucleon peacefully sleeping there in the yard alongside her son’s green Espeon - aww, that cute Nucleon! A positive relict from her mindless CURIE-alter-ego - , “… some people still see me as a dangerous maniac with a liking for nuclear power, huh? Well…“ Her thoughts wandered to her held grudge against that other scientist who clearly offended her on that one evening… damn, if she only could remember a face to it… She took a deep breath in frustration and ran a hand through her dark-turquoise shoulder-length hair sticking out in many directions. “Leave it that way, if you start making efforts to change that point of view, it’ll probably get worse…” she said more to herself, and ended that thought with a dram of black candied coffee. (Man, she really liked that stuff lately…) If they restrain to see that she was no harm at all, to noone, as long as you leave her at peace, it wasn’t her business, and her time was too precious to deal with such people or trying to prove anything. Thank Arceus that the facility she found work at was totally neutral in that point and ensured to provide her (safe) research projects.

No, Lucille had her own way to cope with problems like a shattered reputation, other people may label it as “unsuitable”, but she honestly didn’t care. All she wanted was to continue a life together with her husband and son, and find some personal satisfaction in her research projects. It may be foolish to think that she’ll get her “old life” back – but who stated that she tried to “get her old life back”? Noone. In fact, she knew very well that the time before Epsilon was gone with the wind. What an untroubled time that was… but like a river keeps flowing, so does time, and with that comes an uncertain future… wasn’t it amazing and terrifying the same time that a small action/decision considered unimportant may change so much on a way yet-to-walk? Go on and call Lucille sentimental, but she is well aware that her further actions starting from that point weren’t the best… if it came to scientific issues/decisions, she could be quite impulsive… on the other hand, what would have happened if she’d made a different choice back then? …. Ah, she didn’t want to think about that anymore. Not now. Drinking more coffee, instead.

What was left for now was making up for the grief she caused her loved ones, and, as I said, offer them the love they’ve missed. Maybe it wasn’t visible in the first place, but she highly appreciated that Kellyn and Vitor forgave and supported her, as uncommon as their decision may sound for anyone else.

Days came and went, and nothing really happened. Only Kellyn sensed that there was something going on. Sure, he was happy how things worked out now, but deep inside him he didn’t trust that peace. It wasn’t like he showed that on the outside, no – he definitely didn’t want to worry anyone. He rather chose to keep that for himself and behave like usual. That meant to continue being a protective and affectionate man for his wife and his son, and being the heroic Ranger that he was known for far-reachingly…
