And actually, after I bemoaned the sniping on FB, the person who did it came forward, apologized, and traded the Jerbolta back to me. So now I have him back and a better idea of how to proceed with future trades.
As for how to do something like that, I had a couple of thoughts... one could be to add additional "Wanted" filters like Natures and IVs -- that would make it easier to identify the desired trade and harder for unintended recipients to step into the middle of it. Another could be the addition of a Trainer/Online ID filter in the "Wanted" section so that you could select "any Trainer" or a specific trainer; that way, only the person with that ID number can make the trade.
Admittedly, since I'm not a programmer, I have no idea how feasible either of those suggestions actually are... but if it could be done, it would probably be doing a lot of breeders/traders a favor. I'm sure I'm not the only person to inadvertently have a trade get sniped like that.
