Just as Nathan hoped Ventus DID notice this change of behavior/feeling in his beloved giant snake, and turned to see the young trainer giving them a treat. Despite his current anxiety/stress /focus/feeling towards them , the empath couldn't help but raised an eyebrow and give them a curious look, as the last time he checked they didn't exactly care for his choice in Poisonous reptiles.... Hmm....

Nathan's completely oblivious to that.  Next, he holds up a hand (cradling Orthros with one arm now, still trying to keep him as close as possible), as if he was going to give Aspis a good stroke/scratch, but he doesn't actually touch her yet. He's also looking directly at Aspis's eyes as he voices his question to her...

"...may I?  I know I've said some harsh things before, but...I do want to properly thank you for your help...food only goes so far..."

Nathan's keeping his voice low, both out of a (lessened) lack of self confidence and so as not to disturb those around the old man and the old man himself. Ventus would have a difficult time hearing it.

He's kinda hoping Aspis lets him touch her, help her relax a little.  He...has to prove something to himself...

Kirlia's now anxiously watching Nathan and Aspis instead of Ventus...hmmm...
