I admit I've been too hard here, it was just somewhat demeaning when both me and my chara have been so sure that Yena will defeat the partly Psychic Type, as well as the spending of Will Point has not brought that success. We'll get over it, but now with being bitten by snake once again, I won't repeat same mistakes anymore. Or so I hope.
I still have a few a few aces up in sleeve, though, and I don't want to KO Orthros on purpose just for victory over him. That feels mean.
Just how the cookie crumbles sometimes, unfortunately. Can always happen in anything that's RNG based.
- Good news is Orthros is really low on the initiative roll, so it's the best possible odds of 50-50 to outspeed him and remove him from the fight before he can do anything more. Or you could just use Fake Out, I guess. Seriously, Orthros is as disadvantaged as he's going to get.
- While Nathan's strategy has been simple yet effective, it's mostly because of the specific conditions that came about. Evading is REALLY good in single battles when you have large dice pools and your opponent doesn't, in contrast to doubles/facing many pokemon at once, where evading everything is near impossible to pull off because you can get focus targeted and hit by spread moves. Nathan's going to have a MUCH harder time against those Canalize based rolls of Shiva's when they don't have an accuracy penalty, so he's not going to be able to exploit it as much (if he even wanted to in the first place. I only employed the tactics here because it was for both in-character reasons and the only way to have a chance of pulling off this rather low odds feat).
- Yes, Shiva's not super battle oriented, and that's fine. No matter what happens with the result of this battle, she's doing exactly what Nathan asked her to do. No need to shun him in the future just because he seems 'unbeatable'. He's learning, and will back off on his own for varying reasons. The Little Cup thing was something I wanted to experiment with, and I'm happy to say that I'm rather pleased with the results so far. And ya know what? I'm so pleased with it, if the Little Cup is still being held, Nathan won't be participating, and will be cheering Shiva on instead. Yes, he'll specifically take time out of his day to do that if the opportunity arises.
Good to hear. Looking forward to seeing how things proceed from here.
