Do I sense a soft-streadent argument between Shiva and Nathan upcoming due to that? Hmm, that was to be expected. I, well... don't mind that if I'm very honest, as long as there's strictly no insulting from either side and it doesn't cause Nathan to allientate from us even more, which would pretty much soft-force us to care for him and bring up efforts to mend things - I would not enjoy that. If he wants to keep Shiva as a friend, he'd have to accept her decision, but of course none is telling him to actually use the possibilities my chara's Almanac'Dex' would bring. I don't quite understand why having seen Sheldon's Dex once brings more knowledge about Tandormon than the owning of Almanac'Dex' does provide, that's illogical.

You'll have to wait and see, unfortunately.

It's moreso that he'll be able to recognize the more common Tandor pokemon a lot more easily (ya know, pictures and such to reinforce what he already knew).  Sheldon, being a gym leader, has likely seen a LOT of Tandor's common and uncommon species in addition to the Steel and Psychic types he owns.  Nathan's general knowledge of each species in the Tandor 'dex hasn't really changed much.  The only really 'new' information he got was confirmation of the existence of the S51 line and the punks, and potentially also finally seeing what Actan and Urayne look like as well.  He obviously doesn't know everything about all the species, but he knows enough to not really need a 'dex to recognize most of them if he has enough time to think about it.  

Simply put, he knows 'enough', and that's one of the things he's going to make clear.
