I was kinda wondering too, but if that's the result of filling a whole page, cool. In-game explanation: Kirlia's probably just gotten REALLY good at meditating, since that's what almost all of his training sessions have been based around since he started learning Calm Mind in Corsage.
Well, the benefits of training require an encounter anyways. Nathan plays with his pokemon too (usually 'off screen'), but those moments are purely for fun for the most part, while the training sessions are more focused/involved.
