[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(02-06-2018, 12:40 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: While researching my Pokémon's move choices and possible actions in the future, I thought of a problematic and odd move sequence that I think needs some oversight first.

Namely, Michael can learn Mind Reader at Lv 33/37 (Depending if ORAS or XY learnest), and in Pokerole its says that it adds two automatic successes to its next action, which is somewhat vague. Does that mean he gets two extra dice in his next move's roll that are always (6)s , or are they just 'invisible' that still count as Successes in a roll,? If the former, does that mean that Michael could exceeded his normal Accuracy Roll Limits with it?

Example: Michael has a max of 9D6 Dice, and has no Pain. He goes first in a round with a random opponent, and uses 3 Actions: Spore, Mind Reader, and Dynamic Punch. First Accuracy Roll is 5D6, second is 4D6, but the last should not be possible due to the - 5 Accuracy + - 5 Actions, right? Well, if Mind Reader Process successfully, then the Dice Roll for Dynamic Punch would be actually 11D6 - 10 = 1 Always Successful Dice if Mind Reader works that way.

If it doesn't, could Michael still use Mind Reader with any of his attacking moves, and have the 2 automatic Success count towards the Crit Total? Say for example he gets 3 Accuracy on a Façade via roll or 2 with Stone Edge, but with Mind Reader he actually has 5/4 Successes, and so the attacks should Crit. It be an interesting way to fish for those powerful blows, and this mechanic is balanced out by the fact that Mind Reader + Move combos can only be execute 1-3 Times per Round depending on when used, so you give up spam in exchange for the chance for a harder hitting blow.

37 in the rules this campaign uses.

Comparing it to Helping Hand, I'd say it just adds two (6)'s, allowing a higher crit chance for sure. This would sometimes allow you an extra action in the same way that Tailwind does. Doesn't sound overpowered to me.
