Nathan doesn't quite believe it at first. His gut feeling was telling him something was wrong here...
...but what's confusing him is that Kirlia is telling him Ventus isn't lying.
Ultimately, he trusts Kirlia more than himself on the matter...though how long that may hold is up in the air.
"...I...guess that works..."
...
"...I still have a little more to say on this current thread of conversation, though, so..."

"...they're Cynthia's words, not mine, though dabbling in philosophy kinda goes hand in hand with the field of history. It's a belief I firmly share, though, and I think everyone is deserving of that chance for something more. Magikarp are about the only creatures as a whole that don't often get it, unfortunately, but few see it to be worth the effort, even here. Still, even what seems to be worthless can be beautiful, and what's incredibly dangerous can be tamed. Cynthia puts her money where her mouth is. She's the proud owner of a Milotic, a Spiritomb, and a Garchomp, if you didn't know that already. I think she has an Eelektross as well...*sigh*...it'd be nice to meet her in person one day...she travels a lot between Sinnoh and Unova to do her research, so maybe she'd visit this region one day if the ruins here caught her fancy...it's just wishful thinking, though, I suppose..."
...
"That's the whole idea behind the pokemon of Yin and Yang, and everything they embody. No, I'm not talking about the Tao Dragons, I'm talking about something...more ancient, more powerful...something as potent as Arceus itself...beings that lack the complete black and white split that the Tao Dragons often represent...but ones that can never truly touch, as they are complete opposites through and through..." Nathan fiddles with that necklace of his again as he says this.
...
...that's a tough question...
"...there's no definitive right answer, unfortunately. Only when one side's view of the other is proven wrong can one of them be said to be right. Or if one side is wiped out and the winner writes the history books, I suppose...but if there's one thing I can say after everything I've read and heard about...pokemon, by nature, are much purer than we'll ever be, even if corrupted into something they shouldn't be at all...though maybe it's because of us that they are, since some are little more than wild beasts until given the care and attention...in a way, it's kind of like a reflection of what we are trying to be, I suppose...so...I'm most definitely on your side of the matter. What the Unovan government was doing...it was the path to creating a monster that would do anything to escape and stay free, something you sought to prevent...pokemon are only very rarely truly monstrous without good cause...even artificial ones like Mewtwo..."
...
"...and that's why you can't completely give up on Silverfish. If you do...it might actually become the monster everyone fears it will be...it's been proven time and time again throughout history that mistreated and abused pokemon are the ones that separate themselves from humanity...it's the ones that don't care that are the most dangerous..."
...it's probably fairly clear that Nathan's been trying to talk about other topics besides his weird memory loss at this point. There's a weird comfort for him in just trying to ignore the problem right now...
