Behind Vapor Falls, with Calam leading the way, the purple rock begins shining at your approach. Nathan also notices footprints in the mud.

Inside the cave, all is just as you left it: the Unown around the little gem, and Mesprit still with its eyes closed behind the wall of psychic force. There's only one difference: the Unown no longer spell out the entire prophecy, just the one stanza about "Unselfish Love:"

The Pokemon of Sentiments have paths to follow
The spirit cannot free itself to flee, to breach the wall of its power
Unless it be convinced by unselfish love.

...someone's been here...who knows what their intent might have been, but someone's been here...

...that worries Nathan...

...well, minus half of the prophecy being missing...though it doesn't need to be there if it's been fulfilled, so it makes some sense...

Nathan brings Solomon out.  He'd want to see this...

"...Solomon, welcome to Mesprit's cavern behind Vapor Falls.  We're gonna try something...maybe...maybe we can free Mesprit right now...I...don't want it to remain trapped here...and I don't want it to remain so...spiritless...so..."

Nathan reaches into his bag and pulls out the Neverstone.  Stares at it for a moment.

"...this is a Neverstone.  A product of Professor Mallorn's creation.  It can devolve a pokemon...and if Mesprit wants unselfish love to free it, as the prophecy says right there around that gem...what better way than with a Ralts, the one pokemon species it chose to speak to 300 years ago...?"

Nathan sets the Neverstone down on the floor...

"...whenever you're ready, Kirlia...touch the Neverstone, and then the barrier...maybe...maybe this will work..."
