"I can have my Vulpix clean up those webs, no problem. You did perfect! Timmy is so happy. He can't wait to get his first Pokemon. He has a few years to go yet. Do you think a Ralts is a good choice?"

Nathan smiles.

"As someone whose first pokemon was a Ralts, I think it is an excellent choice.  Really hard to find since they dislike conflict, but they're great friends.  Take good care of them and make them happy, and they'll be the most loyal companions you could possibly ever have."

"Though if I may make another suggestion, I think Ponyta isn't a bad pick either, so long as you don't get on their nerves enough to burn ya on contact.  Forgive the business plug, but Warren Ranch always has a few looking for a home, and they're generally well mannered.  Just tell Marta that Nathan sent ya if you want to explore that a little.  Not something I normally suggest, but I think I can make an exception this time.  I actually started my journey with both Ralts and a Ponyta that's since evolved into Rapidash, and I think it's been a great experience for us all.  I actually have Swiftfire on me right now, in fact, so I could show her to Timmy as well real quick before I head out if ya like.  Might help him decide if he might like to have a Ponyta or a Ralts or maybe explore other options."

"...speaking of other options, you could always check the Shelter for Disobedient pokemon as well.  Not all the pokemon and pokemon eggs they carry there actually start out highly disobedient, so it might also be worth checking.  No Ralts nor Ponyta there, though.  It can also get a bit pricey depending on the pokemon or egg, but I think the cost can easily be well worth it."

"...those are just my suggestions, though.  I think Timmy's opinion is probably what will matter most here, since it is going to be his pokemon and all when he gets it."

"...oh, and if you decide to go with a Ralts, it might be a good idea to get them a year or two before any kind of journey or serious battles.  They're kinda difficult to raise to start with since they only know Growl at first when freshly hatched, but the extra time helps them bond and grow stronger.  I've had mine for a little over a year now, but we only started our journey almost two months ago."

"That'd be great, if Timmy and his friends could ride your Ponyta!"

'Ponyta' is loyal enough that she would let kids ride her without harm if Nathan commanded it.
