Valder will try investigating the tri-crystal he found futher, If theirs some expert around he could visit them. If nothing bears any results he'll try splitting them.

Mamoswine continues to ignore the tri-crystal, while his other three Pokemon are all about it. He's also mobbed by wild Sentret, Starly, even a Staravia. The Furret and Watchog completely ignore it too, despite their natural curiosity. 

When Valder gives it to a demanding Haunter, Haunter becomes a little more solid and tough. Same even with Theo.

You may have suspicions by now, and when you take it to a crystal expert at the Museum he is able to confirm that this item is three Eviolites fused together!
