You mentioned you put your .rxdata file in your Uranium Folder. That might be the issue 
Your saved games are kept seperate from the game folder. You can find them in C:\Users\<Username>\Saved Games\Pokemon Uranium. With the latest patch you should, as you mentioned, have a folder called "Backup" Though I'm not sure how often it generates. You can keep a copy of your save where ever you like. On your Desktop, a USB drive, any folder so long as you remember where you put it.
Now, on to the missing fonts! It sounds like one of your files was damaged, or the latest patch didn't apply properly for whatever reason. Rather than trying to repair anything, I recommend doing a clean Install.
