Ditto: Partially because of said quirk (which can be...disruptive, to say the least.  Ditto can only Transform into 3 pokemon per day, and the random Transformation immediately takes up one of those slots at the start of the day when it occurs).  Partially because of other reasons.

Grid:  I'm not going to bother actually RPing that for the sake of expedience, but you better take good care of Grid!  I'll assume Ventus was present at the 'Ditto/loaner pokemon' meeting, and it was all taken care of then.  Post incoming.

Ditto: Alrighty then, I'll keep those things in mind when it comes time to make that massive/generous trade off in the far flung future then, or attempt to anyway.

Grid: Why wouldn't he? He'll treat them right (and the way Nathan wants), and make sure they are at least trained/doing some form of activity once a day while they are in his care, so the thunder bug is going to be just alright! Any move in particular that you want Ven to work towards, including Move Tutoring based ones?
