The two trainers can easily swing their pickaxes above the short Pokemon (both are only a foot tall). Theo is carving right through the stone, proving how strong he has grown under Valder's care, even able to cut through the thickest stones. He'll be able to evolve very soon. (@Nylon)

Sableye literally dives into the gaps left by the other workers. Ventus hears crunching sounds from within, and only Sableye's feet are sticking out.

Judging by those crunching sounds, it sounds as if the Sableyes Ditto had already hit pay dirt with the gems! Quickly and carefully placing his pickaxe down, Ventus crouched down and gently *Yoiked!* the mimic out (if possible)/hollowed after it (if not), saying to it in both instances before letting it go back digging: "Ditto, if you find any gems or valuable in the course of your digging, do not eat them. Instead, horde and pile them up outside the tunnel periodically as you excavate it. Understood?"

Once that was impressed upon them, the researcher would resume digging the way forward out.
