They eschew the ball and instead begin a strange performance. Kirlia dances, the other Pokemon gives a sort of interpretative gesturing soliloquy. Their teamwork is almost seamless, like they were both born to the stage. They're having a ton of fun with this, and the weird Pokemon has seemingly forgotten Nathan's presence. They just ham it up.
Bigger smile from Nathan.
...forget the mysteries right now, it seems Kirlia has a new friend. A new friend is always a great thing to have, and it's always great to see Kirlia so happy.
When they finish with their performance, Nathan pipes up again.
"Ya know, you could come with us if ya like. We'll be leaving the area soon, but the fun doesn't have to end when we do move on. Kirlia and I would be happy to have ya along for the ride if you wanted to join us on a more permanent basis. Honored, even. It's rare for my best friend to get along so well with someone so quickly. He even gave me a hard time at first. And I'd love to see the two of you working together more in the future if you do decide to come along. I have a good feeling you two could learn a lot from each other."
There really is some special synergy between those two. The Tandorian Pokemon considers for a moment...
Empathy: (5)(1)(2)(5)(6) + 1 = 4
Will: (6)(2)(4)(4)(3) = 3
But there's still one more test. Kirlia's new friend looks very hesitant, a shy expression on its tortured face. Kirlia nudges it encouragingly. It takes a step closer to Nathan, and Kirlia starts spinning around it dramatically and throwing Long-Grass-confetti.
The Pokemon shimmers...much like that Zoroark did...and the tortured Ghost Pokemon falls away, revealing a much less intimidating Pokemon, though one that is far rarer if Nathan only knew it. Kirlia picks up his friend, a pigeonlike Pokemon, and proudly shows him off to Nathan! Half its body is white and half black, a bit like the Aotius/Mutios symbol, or like the two drama masks hanging above the Golden Theater in Cress City.
...Masking agrees to come along. Does that change Nathan's mind?
