Unfortunately, without Defog/Brick Break, there's not much we can do about Light Screen and Reflect at all.

EQ isn't the only big attack Mamo has.  He also has Powder Snow.  Yes, it's going to be a lot weaker, but Valder has 5 Strength and the move also doesn't hit your allies.  I'd much rather he use that than EQ (Nathan only has 1 Pokemon that is resistant to ground, not including Ditto, who'd have to spend an Action Transforming)
