I prefer the final form to the beta. I find the beta a bit too silly, and the juxidposition of a western dragon head with THAT body seems a bit too cartoonish for a true Dragon type (excluding Goodra, whose's design was based in part on being cute/friendly) . The final version seems more.....imposing and fiercesome to me, and its the one I grew up with, so I naturally find it 'better' , for a given subjective value.

Ya know what might be interesting, though?

If some of Beta Kingdra's traits were to transition over to an eventual Mega Kingdra.  Pinsir's scrapped evo got that treatment (to a degree), so it'd be interesting if Kingdra ended up taking that route too if it also got one at some point.

That's only if Nintendo/Gamefreak continue the idea of Mega Evolution beyond the poultry amount of Pokémon they have gifted it too, but that would be interesting to see regardless if that turns out to be the case. Noticed those beta/Mega Pinsir similarities too, though I wonder why they just didn't give them that evolution in some manner like they did to Scyther.....? Was it to keep the bug a counterpart to Heracross........hmm.
