Because when he leaves or disappears, Shiva will likely go too, right?  That splits the group in two. 

I don't want to play a different chara than my fae enthusiast, that says enough I guess.

If Ven leaves in the future, I'd like for Shiva to stay in the group and continue adventuring with the rest. My character deciding at some point he's had enough shouldn't cause other players to leave with him too.
