I figured that being of (probably somewhat distant or forgotten) noble descent would make the most sense for Nathan. It'd also be the most interesting topic for him to explore 
As far as the Alert thing goes...yeah, I wanted that Mega Stone. But I also thought it'd be fitting for Nathan to be hyper aware in a Library he can probably only visit once in his lifetime
