SpoilerVen was indeed mildly surprised about Juilet's reveal, especially the fact that it seemed to possession the Illusion ability that was thought of as the signature trait of the morally ambiguous species! However, its dampened somewhat by the fact he's still rather....put out by him leaving the group on such short notice, and the fact he suspected something was off with them ever since he first saw them in Antheneum. That, and the fact they were a Masking more or less proved he was correct in his earlier assumptions, so that slim gratification helped ease off the surprise.
When Gallade stared[b] deeply[/b] into his eyes, Ventus [i]understood [/i]them , their stalwart desire to support and improve him that he shared with his partner.
At first, he could only dazzidly return their stare, looking completely STUNNED by the faith they and the boy had in him. Consider that he more or less 'gave up on caring about Nathan deeply' and kept himself mostly at a emotional distance from them ever since Stair City, he had even more reason to be blown away by this (to him) surprise reveal.
Moments later, however.....Ventus could only give Gallade a.....sad, bittersweet smile.
'Oh Nathan and Gallade…..you can't fix what has been worn out and broken for so, [i]so [/i]long. Still.....I thank you both for trying, despite how impossibly difficult your task was.
Ven then turned away from Nathan and stalked away, letting his Pokémon finish giving them their farewells before recalling them all and heading off to see Shiva for one last time....
Perhaps, if things had been different, Nathan could have made a better man out of Ventus, and still be a dear friend to them.
But not now.
That's what Gallade wishes to communicate (as Nathan cannot at the moment since he still can't decide if he actually wants to [i]say [/i]goodbye or not). As a Kirlia, that would have been a nigh impossible task, as he would have been far less able to cope with the hurricane of emotion he was experiencing. Now, as a Gallade, he's able to withstand it all and be the solid rock, the immovable pillar, that Nathan truly needs. Well, one of them, at least. And no matter what he feels around him, he'll now be able to react to it accordingly without being overwhelmed. He has no need to ever shut off his empathy and ability to read a foe's actions.
The screaming banshee was briefly astonished by the Night Slash display of the now fully grown and [i]dashing [/i]Gallade, but then....she just let out a few giggles and gave them smile full of genuine warmth and affection for them, before they leaned in to give them one last peck on the forehead and floated of to their master's side, still smiling. While their was no lost love between them and that insufferable boy, she could understand how much they meant to him, and could accept that easily. She'll miss that little abnormal empath, now all grown up into a valiant knight of yor, but perhaps one day she'll meet them again. Be good, you handsome man, te he~!
Both angel and demon too enjoyed their time with the duo, and were reluctant to part from their company, but they knew all good things must come to and end, so with a sad but hopeful chirp from Raphael and a proud screech from Lucifer, they released them and flew off to their father's/brother's side. In the former case he wasn't REALLY leaving them, but he could still mourn the abscene of his father too with them....
For her part, the resplendent reptile even return Gallade's nod with a beady eyes stare of her own....before returning their nod with one of their own. She still didn't like them or how annoying and fussy they were/are, but she this was a special day for all of them, and so could afford to be cordial to them. Just this once, though! Her affections still mostly lie with the smol little boy, after all, *Hiiisss!*
The blue demon just did as he always did in response to the refined swordfighter: hit them back with full, friendly force! They'll miss them, but its not really good bye if they keep their memory alive, right? That's right!
The mushroom of champeons gives Gallade an whole new appraisal upon their evolution.....before giving them a good ribbing to and pumping one arm while staring at them with competitive gusto! This may be farewell for now, but he promise one day they'll face them again, and they'll both see once and for all who's the better fighter! Count on it, knight!
