Nathan takes a breath, lets it out to let some of the stress go, and responds just as patiently.

"It's a figure of speech.  Likening cards to the pokemon we're choosing for the battle.  I've got lots to choose from, but if we're hitching a ride out of the city on my pokemon and away from the PC, then I'll have spoiled what one one or two of the pokemon I'll be using are.  Walking's fine, though, I suppose.  Don't have to go too far, after all, and I've done a fair amount of walking over the years."

"...well, someone certainly knows their way around professional rules, though the no switching one isn't commonly used.  Color me impressed.  Let's do a 6v6 then.  'Course, if we're battling until fainting, we'll also definitely be walking back regardless of whether I bring any mounts...and I assume 'prepping our pokemon' does not include buffing them with moves preemptively?"

An 'Ooooooooooh' look appeared on the rugged wander's face as you carefully re-explained things to him, before he rubbed the back of his head and briefly looks away.

"Oh......sorry. I'm…not that good with phrases....sayings...double meanings.....all sorts of complicated speech. Forgive me for my.....ignorance."

He looked embarrassed about this for a moment, before he slowly recomposed himself and continued, trying to pretend like nothing happened.

"Fair enough. Only have 6 Pokemon myself, but I've worked with less partners for most my life. We both walk to the battlefield, and if you get tired I can carry you back and forth, no problem. Walked and swam across Hoen with heavier burdens, so its no trouble for me."

He nods his head to himself, as if sealing the deal on that arrangement. As for compliment his knowledge over the rules of battling, Terra just shrugs.


 "Been a Trainer since I was thirteen, or about a....decade or so, and I've trained, traveled, and Survived across my home's wilds all that time, so I've become good at Fighting with Pokemon."

He say this plainly and without arrogance or hint of bragging, as if it was just a matter of fact statement. Which, to the simple, blunt, and honest man, it was.

"Hmm....we will not be using Direct Attribute Boosting moves on our Pokémon before the battle, if that is what you mean. If that is your only....concern, I will let you get ready while I go outside to do so myself. Alright?"

…Aaaaand the staring commences once more....
