As Nathan is working on scooping up a sellable quantity of Stardust, Gallade warns that Pokemon inside the cave have detected the party. He also seems concerned that there are things obscuring his psychic senses (this requires Shiva's help to interpret.)

"Does it seem like there are any wild pokemon headed in our direction, Gallade?  Or are they they staying put until we actually enter the cave?"  (Can he tell at all?)

Is there enough darkness near the entrance of the cave that wild pokemon could attempt to perform an ambush if they go unnoticed?

He gestures that they're staying put at the moment.

You think it's too light near the entrance for them to pop out right as you go through the door, but once you were inside there are plenty of dark places they could jump from.
