Phew, these battles are getting very long and complex. I need to think of more ways to break them up into mini battles. Maybe some simple terrain/battlefield rules.
If you find a working solution for such, share it with me, since some of the mob battles of my dungeon take HOURS for me to complete. Part of that is due to the way I roll Spread/AoE Moves (Which will remain unmutable), but anything else I can do to streamline things would be ideal!
Yeah this took an hour and a half, and the challenge level isn't even all that high.
The current method accurately models a chaotic, insane battle, with room for cinematics and stuff, where anything can happen! But it does nothing to simulate a challenging situation where multiple party Pokemon could go down.
One thing I'll work on is a system for how many Pokemon can reasonably fight in an area. Ancestor Cave is 60' in diameter. In a D&D grid, it would be just shy of 100 squares.

One character can occupy one square and fight within it. The party represents 12 characters/12 squares assuming all Pokemon are approximately human sized. Tyrantrum and Aerodactyl are 8 squares in total. Let's say 10 cave inhabitants (Meowth and Solosis). Relicanth. That's 31 squares spoken for, an entire 1/3 of the cave. Don't forget there are remnants of attacks everywhere, and attacks filling up big blobs of space at a given time, stalactites, etc; all while each character is controlling only 75 square feet of empty space on average.
That's only 8'x8'!!
It probably wouldn't be possible.
So might be able to make a condition called Crowded where each party member can only safely send out 1 Pokemon.
Or, have some Pokemon prefer to fight outside. Once through the cave door, you're in an entirely separate Encounter. I had the wall drop in to separate Heart from the party. Natural barriers could provide so much Cover it's basically like another Encounter.
Just some quick thoughts I may experiment with.
